Stochastic Biophysics Researcher — AI Physics Evaluation

Role overview Use your research experience in stochastic biophysics to help test whether advanced AI systems can reason through genuine research problems. This is a focused project for researchers who have published on stochastic growth or reaction-network dynamics. What you’ll be doing • Create, solve, review or audit research-level physics challenges in your own specialist area. Your assignment will be agreed after matching. • Write complete reasoning that another specialist could follow and check independently. • Work with problems involving stochastic autocatalytic growth, such as chemical master equations, branching processes, reaction networks or related methods. Who this could suit Postdoctoral researchers, research scientists and junior faculty whose papers address this specific phenomenon. Senior PhD students with a strong first-author publication record may also apply. What you’ll need A PhD in biophysics, statistical physics, applied mathematics or a closely related field is required. You must have published work specifically on stochastic growth or reaction-network dynamics and be able to provide three to five representative papers with arXiv IDs or DOIs. Your own publications should demonstrate at least one relevant method, such as chemical master equations, multi-type branching processes, moment hierarchies or generating-function techniques. You also need working proficiency with LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter, plus English at B2 level or above. Gaps in familiarity with agentic coding tools are acceptable if stated openly. You don’t have to match every requirement exactly. We welcome applicants with different backgrounds, levels of experience and transferable skills. Pay and working arrangements Remote, asynchronous work paying $80–$110 per hour, depending on your match to the research area.
