Finance expertise in AI evaluation
Finance-focused AI projects use human judgment to check whether outputs are accurate, clear and appropriate for a task. Roles can call for accounting, actuarial, investment or other specific experience; the vacancy should tell you which.

What the work can involve
You might check calculations, interpret financial documents, identify missing assumptions or explain why one response is stronger than another. Work involving regulated advice or confidential information may carry additional rules set by the hiring organisation.
How to assess your fit
Compare the vacancy with your actual qualifications and recent work. Some roles welcome broad analytical experience, while others require a particular credential or specialist practice. Never assume a professional requirement is optional unless the listing says so.
What to check before applying
Review the pay currency and basis, country eligibility, contract terms and assessment details. Keep client data out of sample answers unless you have permission to share it.
A useful review question
An answer says revenue grew by 20%. Before approving it, check whether the figures cover comparable periods, whether currency conversion matters, and whether the calculation is growth rather than a percentage-point change. State which assumption changes your conclusion.
Separate arithmetic from judgment
Some tasks are calculation checks. Others ask whether an explanation is balanced and makes its limitations clear. A thorough review may verify units, source dates, definitions and the relevance of a benchmark before judging the final sentence.
Keep a traceable reason for your decision. “The answer is inaccurate” is less helpful than identifying the line, number or assumption that caused the error.
Use expertise responsibly
Describe your actual area of practice and qualifications. Do not put client financial records or confidential work products into a public application or sample answer. If a task seems to cross into regulated advice, follow the project’s boundaries and the requirements of your profession.
Questions to ask before you start
- Does the task require accounting, actuarial, investment or another specific background?
- Are professional qualifications mandatory or preferred?
- Will I work with public examples or sensitive financial material?
- How are rate, currency and billable time defined?
