Role overview
Apply medical publication experience to the evaluation of AI-assisted scientific writing. You will help distinguish sound clinical interpretation from unsupported claims and give researchers clear feedback on the quality of AI-generated publication drafts.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and review evaluation tasks using manuscripts, abstracts, conference posters and scientific presentations.
- Assess draft sections against the relevant journal formatting and reporting guidance.
- Check whether medical claims and interpretations are supported by study reports, protocols and tables, figures or listings.
- Separate errors in scientific reasoning from differences in editorial style.
- Explain each assessment in structured written feedback and help improve the evaluation criteria.
Who this could suit
Experienced medical writers and scientific publication authors from sponsors, research organisations, medical communications agencies or independent practice.
What you’ll need
The preferred background includes at least five years of dedicated medical or scientific publication authoring and direct responsibility for peer-reviewed biomedical or clinical manuscripts. Familiarity with ICMJE, GPP and reporting guidance such as CONSORT or STROBE is valuable, alongside journal submission workflows and publication ethics. You should be comfortable interpreting clinical results, statistical analysis plans and supporting study records. An advanced qualification in life sciences, pharmacy or medicine, or comparable depth of authoring experience, is preferred. Experience across therapeutic areas is useful, particularly oncology, immunology or rare diseases. Prior AI work is not required.
You don’t have to match every requirement exactly. We welcome applicants with different backgrounds, levels of experience and transferable skills.
Pay and working arrangements
Remote contractor work paying $50–$80 per hour. Weekly hours, project duration and payment frequency are not specified.
